Work plan: what material to choose? Part # 1

We search all workplan durable and easy to maintain. Yes, but which one to choose? Wood, laminate, stainless steel, ... advantages and disadvantages of different materials.

Laminate worktop

The worktop laminate is not the darling of French material for nothing. Inexpensive, it is heat resistant (up to 180 ° C) and shock. Coated with a water-repellent protection, it is also non-porous and does not require special maintenance. A sponge is enough to remove stains.

Colorful, imitation stone, wood, metal, ... decor side, there is something for everyone. The worktop laminate has an excellent quality / price ratio.

>> Our advice: if it is tough, but please keep overly aggressive cleaning agents that could damage it. Also, avoid placing an outgoing dish from the oven to the countertop. Finally, chop your vegetables use a cutting board under penalty of scratches.

Worktop wood
Wood seduces with its warm side. Gone are the days where it was rustic connotations. Today it fits into any interior, even the most contemporary.

Robust, however, it remains sensitive to moisture and heat. Once installed, remember to varnish or oil your worktop to prevent the wood from absorbing stains. In everyday life, wood is one of the easiest to keep clean.

Pine, oak, bamboo, eucalyptus, beech, walnut, ... the palette of choice is wide. Each species gives a different style to the kitchen.

Bamboo brings an exotic touch, while the blond wood such as beech used to gain brightness and concoct a Scandinavian decor.

Over time, whatever gasoline, wood patina. It becomes darker (for light wood) or conversely clearer (for dark wood). So do not worry to see its color change.

>> Our advice to increase its durability and beauty, maintain it regularly with linseed oil.

Granite worktop

The price of a granite worktop can be discouraging but in the long term, the investment is more than profitable. Very hard material, granite will accompany you for many years.

Tough, he fears neither heat nor scratches. It is easily maintained with a sponge and soapy water.

Veined or mottled plain, polished or satin finish, granite presents a wide variety of colors and finishes.

>> Our advice: Do not use abrasives to clean it. Vinegar and lemon should be diluted before being applied to the work plan. Once a year treat it with an oil repellent.

Quartz worktop

Aesthetic worktops quartz but are quite expensive. Compound 92% of quartz and acrylic resin, the material has a better impact strength and heat (up to 200 ° C) that the natural stone.

To this mixture are added decorative pigments. Non-porous, it does not absorb water, coffee and wine. No need to use harsh products, stains can be easily cleaned with a little soap and water.

If he is not afraid of high temperatures, however, be sure to take the pans out of the distant fire of the work plan. The heat causes cracks and distort your work.

>> Our advice: in case of loss of gloss, use a gloss enhancer to restore the luster.
